Understanding T-Shirt Fabric Weights: 180 GSM vs 220 GSM vs 240–260 GSM
A clear guide to t-shirt fabric weights. Learn the difference between 180 GSM essentials, 220 GSM oversized streetwear, and 240–260 GSM premium canvas.

Fabric weight is one of the most reliable ways to judge a t-shirt before you even try it on. Here is how the main ranges compare.
180 GSM – Regular Fit Essentials
This is our standard weight for clean, regular-fit essentials. It offers a good balance of comfort, structure, and everyday wearability. Noticeably better than thin fast-fashion tees, without feeling heavy.
Best for: daily rotation pieces you wear constantly.
180–220 GSM – Streetwear & Oversized
Moving into this range adds presence. Oversized and streetwear silhouettes benefit from the extra weight because the fabric holds its shape better across the shoulders and body. 220 GSM sits at the stronger end of this category.
Best for: statement fits and pieces where proportion matters.
240–260 GSM – Premium Canvas
This is proper heavyweight territory. The fabric has real body, excellent opacity, and strong durability. We use this range for our premium canvas line and specifically for handpainted pieces.
Best for: elevated essentials and garments where material quality is the main feature.
Quick Reference

Understanding these numbers helps you buy with intention instead of guessing from product photos.
